My favourite bookstore had a 10day sale in August to commemorate their 15th year anniversary and I remembered dithering by the General Fiction (in other words, the chick lit shelf) wondering if I should buy this book Written in the Stars by Ali Harris.

I was intriguedand slightly terrifiedby the premise of this book: a girl whose parents trick and coerce her into a marriage she doesnt want. Too often" cancer books" are downtrodden with overemotional drama that saturates the reading experience with misery.

The film stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Nat Wolff, and Willem Dafoe playing supporting roles. Written in the Stars was a beautiful, eyeopening book. I read the whole book in one evening, because I just couldn't put it down.

Naila was a great main character: smart, sweet, lovable and with a scholarship and a good future ahead of her.
